As a young woman who is on track to compete at the highest level in motorsport, I am proud of a number of achievements in a short time.
Moving forward. This year I started making the transition from racing karts to racing high performance, so it's been a busy year because I’m also in my graduation year of high school.
I’ve been racing the high performance Radical in the West Australian FSR series with Arise Racing and competed in my first national race as part of the Radical Cup Australia at Sydney Motorsports Park.
After I’ve finished my final school year I’ll start testing and racing in the new-generation F4.
The next goal for me is selection into the F1 Academy.
In November 2022, Formula One announced the creation of F1 Academy, a racing series focussed on developing and preparing young female drivers to progress to higher levels of competition, progressing from F4 to F3 then F2 and F1.
Racing is learning. In my second year of Karting, as I stepped up to the more powerful Tag Light and national competition in the Australia Kart Championships, my first six-month goal was to achieve solid results by working through the back third of the pack. I achieved this at the Queensland State Championship in Warwick, AKC Round 4 in Emerald and Rotax Pro Tour Round 4.
My goal in the second half of 2022 was to achieve solid results by working towards the front of the middle third of the pack in the races I compete in. I have achieved this at the Newcastle City Cup and Melbourne City Titles.
As the only girl racing in Tag 125 at the 2022 Australia Kart Championships, I’m happy to have achieved these results to show others that it is possible to start and achieve in a high performance karting category.
I am proud to have assisted in coaching young karters in the Junior Sprockets program in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland throughout the year, teaching what I have been taught, and seeing young karters achieve new Personal Bests!
I am also happy to have been selected into the Girls on Track mentoring program at the 2022 Australian Grand Prix run by Motorsports Australia.
The highlight of 2022 was being the first girl in Australia and Asia to participate in the Ferrari Driver Academy Asia-Oceania regional camp in Malaysia driving the F4 car at the Sepang F1 circuit.
Never having driven an F4 before arriving at the camp was daunting, but testing in the Radical SR3 prior opened an opportunity for the year ahead.
Getting started. I began karting later than many people, just before my 15th birthday, in September 2020, and in the three years since, I hope I’ve shown other girls that they can embrace karting and achieve beyond others expectations.
I am proud of achieving my goals. Together with my Coach Troy Hunt, Girls on Track mentors from Motorsports Australia and family, I come up with goals to reach at different points throughout the year, and so far I have achieved them.
In my first year, my first goal was to come up to pace in the first six months of racing.
My second goal was to reach the podium by the end of my first year in karting.
I achieved both goals and ended 2021 with six trophies in Tag Light Restricted.
